Healing Nexus Inc. respects the privacy of every individual who visits our web site or otherwise provides his or her personal information to us in the course of his or her dealings with us. This privacy policy applies to our web sites (healingnexus.com, tongrenhealing.ca, tongrensymposium.com) and all other means by which Healing Nexus collects your personal information.

This privacy policy outlines the information Healing Nexus will collect and how we will use, disclose and otherwise manage that information. This privacy policy will also instruct you on how you can verify the accuracy of your personally identifiable information submitted to us through our web site or by other means and how you can request that we delete your personally identifiable information from our databases.

In all cases we defer to The Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada and their guidlines for organizations and their responsibilities under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

What is personal information?

Personal information is any information about an identifiable individual, other than an individual’s business title or business contact information. Personal information (e.g. name, address, age, credit card information, banking information) does not include information that cannot be associated with or tracked back to a specific individual. Information that is publicly available, such as a telephone book listing, is also not considered to be personal information.

What information does Healing Nexus collect?

(1) Personally identifying information

Healing Nexus only collects personally identifying information about clients, and event participants for program and service delivery, as well as to continue, maintain and manage our relationship with you.

Your provision of personal information to Healing Nexus means that you agree and consent that we may collect, use and disclose your personal information in accordance with this privacy policy. If you do not agree with these terms, please do not provide any personal information to Healing Nexus. Failure to provide your personal information to Healing Nexus may prevent us from offering you the information, services and/or programs you have requested.

The information that Healing Nexus collects is the minimum amount that we need to demonstrate and maintain a services, event registrations, volunteer, participant, or program relationship with you. This includes, where applicable:

• contact and identification information, such as your name, address, telephone number and e-mail address
• payment information such as date of purchase, amount of product or service and/or name of recipient if you were purchasing something for a third party.
• financial information such as your payment methods and preferences, billing and banking information (credit card number and expiry date or chequing account transit numbers, in order to process your purchases)  Please note we do not store any credit card or banking information on our site.
• other personal information used for purposes that a reasonable person would consider appropriate in the circumstances (e.g. if you are interested in attending a dowsing or specific type of event which is still to be organized.)

Some of the information Healing Nexus collects is needed in order to satisfy the requirements of the Canada Revenue Agency (“CRA”) (e.g. income tax receipts). There are also circumstances where the use and/or disclosure of personal information is justified or permitted without consent. These circumstances may include:

• where required by law or by order or requirement of a court, administrative agency or other governmental tribunal;
• where Healing Nexus believes, upon reasonable grounds, that it is necessary to protect the rights, privacy, safety or property of an identifiable person or group; and
• where the information is public

Healing Nexus generally collects your personal information directly from you and only with your consent. In addition, Healing Nexus will not collect or use personal information about you from a third party without your express consent. Healing Nexus will usually obtain your consent at the time that we collect your personal information. If the purpose for using your personal information changes from the time since such consent was obtained, Healing Nexus will advise you of this purpose before such use or disclosure.

(2) Website generated information: “cookies” and "tags" on Healing Nexus Websites

In order to improve our site on an ongoing basis, we may use cookies to track your visit.

A cookie is a small amount of data that is transferred to your browser by a web server and can only be read by the website that gave it to you. It functions as your identification card. It is not a program and cannot be executed as code or deliver viruses. Healing Nexus does not report on individual user sessions.

You can use Healing Nexus website without cookies, but you may have to re-enter information each time you visit.

As most websites do, we track usage patterns on our website on an anonymous basis. Your identity cannot reasonably be ascertained from this information. Each time you visit our website, our server records your Internet Service Provider, the date and time of your visit, the pages you visit and the documents downloaded, the searches you performed, and the referring URL’s you came from. We use this non-personal information to optimize our Web site service.

How does Healing Nexus use your personal information?

As explained above, Healing Nexus uses your personal information to process purchases and event registrations, to respond to requests for services and information, and to keep you informed about Healing Nexus activities.

We may also use the information you provide to us in the following ways:

• to assist in the development of new programs, events, and services;
• to provide clients with summary or aggregate information about our programs, products and services;
• for internal research purposes

When does Healing Nexus disclose your personal information?

Healing Nexus shares your personal information only with employees who require such information to establish, manage and maintain our relationship with you. We may also disclose your personal information to third party service providers whom we engage to mail our material or use for event registrations. These third party providers are in contract with us and only have access to personal information that is needed to perform the related function and may not use it for any other purpose.

Accuracy of information

Healing Nexus aims to ensure that any personal information provided is accurate, complete and current as required for the purposes for which the information is used.

Retention of personal information

Healing Nexus keeps personal information only as long as it is required for the reasons it was collected. The length of time we retain information varies, depending on the program, service or event and the nature of the information, for example we generally keep financial information for 7 years, in accordance with CRA rules and regulations. The retention period may extend beyond your relationship with us. When your personal information is no longer required the information is either physically destroyed or deleted.

Links to other websites from Healing Nexus

Healing Nexus provides links to other websites which Healing Nexus believes may be of interest to you. As Healing Nexus has no control over the content of any of these websites, these links may be updated or deleted as Healing Nexus deems appropriate.

We have no control over the privacy practices or the content of any of our business partners or other third party sites to which we provide links from our site. You should check the applicable privacy policy of the web site sponsor when linking to other web sites.
